Interconnected Systems Framework (ISF) provides a model for a multi-tiered system of support for student behavior and mental health. One of the foundational principles of ISF is integrating community mental health providers into the school system; however, many rural communities lack access to community mental health providers. In this presentation, participants will learn about a unique partnership between Great Prairie AEA, North Mahaska Community Schools, and the University of Northern Iowa in which they utilized the ideas of ISF to develop and implement a multi-tiered system to support student social, emotional, behavioral and mental health needs. Participants will discuss the 5 year journey, system successes, and continued challenges to implementation and sustainability.
