Families who have experienced trauma at home and within communities can carry symptoms into school, but with the right supports, students experiencing toxic levels of stress can still succeed and thrive. This presentation will share recent Iowa data on adverse childhood experiences (ACEs) and how trauma impacts health and well-being, as well as the latest strategies for responding to ACEs and toxic stress in school systems.
