Suicide is the second leading cause of death for ages 10-34 in the United States, and the 3rd leading cause of death for youth 10-14 in Iowa.  Despite improvements in suicide safe care, and a plural of evidence that suicide is preventable, rates continue to climb in Iowa and nationally.  Drew Martel (LISW, CADC), The Director of Crisis Services at Foundation 2, and an American Association on Suicidology Site Examiner, will present on emerging data and trends around suicide prevention, including an overview of what constitutes suicide safer care, and what implementation might look like within a school district.
