Iowa BEST: Behavioral, Equitable, Social-Emotional, Trauma-Informed Health in Schools Summit
The Iowa BEST Summit is designed to highlight educators’ collective need to bolster support and care across the educational system, and to build shared capacity to get there. The sessions will deliver resources and practical solutions around social-emotional-behavioral health. #IowaBEST2021

The summit is co-sponsored by the Iowa Department of Education and the University of Iowa College of Education.

Lee Johnson is driven to help educators create environments and interactions that meet the social, emotional, and behavioral needs of all in the educational setting. Currently preparing future teachers as an Assistant Professor of Education at Clarke University, Lee draws from a wide variety of experiences and perspectives. Lee has worked with children and their families in the juvenile and family courts, a residential treatment and private special education school setting, and public schools. Prior to working in higher education his path in education has included being a paraeducator, special educator, behavior strategist, and strategist teacher leader. Lee is currently pursuing his doctorate in trauma-informed educational practices to fuel his work doing right by humans.
